PARENT RIGHTS
When do we provide parent rights?
1. Procedural Safeguards should always be sent with every meeting notice.
2. Procedural Safeguards should always be sent with every PWN.
3. Procedural Safeguards should always be presented and offered at the IEP meeting, even though you had sent them home with the meeting notice.
4. Parents should always be given the chance to have their Procedural Safeguards explained.
Guidance on Procedural Safeguards HERE.
NOTES - TIPS - REMINDERS!
Transition IEP Committee Call: We are looking at new ways to work through our transition process for kiddos: K1 Eligibility, 5th- 6th grade, 8th-9th grade, high school graduation and exit, and high school promotion to TYAP. Your input is needed. If you have experience in these areas, or a big interest, please complete the form to join our committee. Complete Form HERE
Attendance Reminder: Recognize and address patterns of chronic absenteeism early. Hold an IEP meeting to discuss needed supports and goals BEFORE we get to the SARB meeting phase.
Special Education Para Educators should be working his or her full contract days, even on ERMS. Reach out to your PS if you need ideas.
If you have not been recording services to this point, start now. Tracking services ensures that we are providing services in a consistent manner and provides us with needed data to show student growth in goal areas. Please be sure to keep your data tracking forms in a safe, accessible place in case CDE asks to review them.

TRANSPORTATION GUIDELINES
Transportation services are provided to students with disabilities as indicated per TUSD Transportation Policy guidelines or as a Related Service due to needs associated with the student’s disability.
Transportation as a Related Service: Do the student’s impairments limit their ability to traverse to and from school to a degree greater than any other same age peer?
Transportation Guidelines: The 2025-2026 TUSD Transportation Plan defines a reasonable distance to be:
- 2 miles for Tk-8 students from student’s home address to school.
- 2.5 miles for 9-12 students from student’s home address to school
- Distance measured as the crow flies
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
This year's Special Olympics was a huge success! It was a celebration of inclusion, achievement and community. The event featured student-athletes from TUSD and
